“An unexpected run-in: priceless.” A24 has debuted the third & final trailer for the romcom Materialists, the second feature film made by writer / director Celine Song following her beloved hit Past Lives. It’s not The Materialists, just simply Materialists, about fancy people living in the Big Apple. Dakota Johnson is the woman at the center of this romantic story – Lucy’s expertise in matchmaking is highly sought after by those willing to pay a price for her services, including New York City elites. The story follows her as she gets involved in a love triangle in NYC, in this charming, sultry film from Celine Song. A young, ambitious New York City matchmaker finds herself torn between the perfect match and her imperfect ex. With Johnson as Lucy, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal as her boys, Zoë Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, & Sawyer Spielberg. This final trailer is a riff on the classic Mastercard commercials where they price everything – showing how insanely overpriced NYC is. The beer and coke is all I can afford.

A young, ambitious New York City perfectionist finds herself torn between the perfect match and her imperfect ex. Materialists is written and directed by the Korean-Canadian writer / filmmaker Celine Song, making her second film after directing Past Lives before this. She’s also an acclaimed playwright and had a few other TV writing gigs previously. It’s produced by David Hinojosa, Christine Vachon, Pamela Koffler, and Celine Song. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. A24 will debut Celine Song’s Materialists film in select US theaters starting June 13th, 2025 this summer movie season.
