Elden Ring Nightreign Gets 2-Player Co-Op Thanks To Fan-Made Mod

Elden Ring Nightreign doesn’t officially have two-player co-op, but now there’s an unofficial mod for it. The newest Soulslike by FromSoftware breaks away from the previous titles by introducing a multiplayer element. The game takes place in the Elden Ring region of Limgrave, but instead of a grueling solo adventure, the game is meant to one or three players to take on.

The decision not to include a two-player option in Nightreign has been a divisive one among fans, since it limits the way friends can enjoy the game together. The new Seamless Co-op mod by Nexus Mods user Yui addresses this issue by adding a fan-made two-player cooperative mode to the new title.

Nightreight 2-Player Mod Enters Rushed Alpha

Elden Ring Nightreign has only been out for less than a day and only has a little over a dozen mods. However, the need for a two-person co-op is so great that there are already over 7,000 downloads of the Seamless Co-op mod, despite it being in a “rushed” alpha state. Modder Yui warns players that this means there will likely be bugs and issues that will get worked out over time, but for many fans, this tradeoff is still worth it.

An Elden Ring Nightreign Patch Arrives Next Week To Address A Huge Problem At Launch

FromSoftware will be releasing a patch for Elden Ring Nightreign next week aimed at addressing one of the biggest problems of the game at launch.

The Seamless Co-op mod bypasses FromSoftware’s servers and instead allows modded players to pair up in groups of two (or three). This allows players to pair up with friends seamlessly through Steam. Note that this mod uses different save files from the main game, so you can’t get banned from the official servers since you won’t be connecting to them with the modded version of the game.

Adding Two-Player Mode Might Not Save The Game

Not including a two-player mode is just one of the issues that Nightreign is facing at launch. While the game reached over 300,000 concurrent players at launch, it’s not doing as well as the studio’s other games. Nightreign is also FromSoftware’s worst-reviewed game on Steam, potentially forecasting trouble for the game’s future. The mixed response from fans of the other Soulslike games means that even adding a two-player option won’t save the title in the long run.

While the Seamless Co-op mod is still rough around the edges and struggling with many bugs, the mod’s creator plans to update it to be a truly seamless experience over time. And, until Elden Ring Nightreign adds its own two-player option, this mod might be the only way for couples and friends to play the game in pairs.
