“What manner of creature is that? What manner of devil made him?” “I did.” Whoa – this is a must watch! Netflix has revealed the teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s new Frankenstein movie, his uniquely gothic and extra dark take on this classic story from author Mary Shelley. It will hopefully be out in theaters briefly before it eventually arrives for streaming on Netflix later this year – announced for November in this teaser. Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation. The phenomenal cast includes Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein’s monster, along with Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Charles Dance, Christian Convery, and Ralph Ineson. This is an awesome first look, with some stunning shots and spectacular sets, as expected from del Toro. No clear reveal of the monster yet, but this is more than enough of an exciting tease already.
Here’s the teaser trailer (+ poster) for Guillermo del Toro’s version of Frankenstein, direct from YouTube:
“In seeking life, I created death…” Inspired by the classic novel originally published in 1818. Set in Eastern Europe in the 19th Century, Dr. Pretorious (Christoph Waltz) has to track down Frankenstein’s Monster (Jacob Elordi)—believed to have died in a fire some 40 years before—in order to continue the macabre experiments of Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac). “Only Monsters Play God.” Frankenstein is directed by visionary Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, director of the films Cronos, Mimic, The Devil’s Backbone, Blade II, Hellboy I & II, Pan’s Labyrinth, Crimson Peak, The Shape of Water, Nightmare Alley, and the animated Pinocchio previously, as well as lots of producing work plus other projects. The screenplay is also written by Guillermo del Toro, based on Mary Shelley’s iconic book “Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus.” Produced by Guillermo del Toro, Scott Stuber, J. Miles Dale. Netflix will debut Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein streaming on Netflix in November 2025 this fall. First impression? How’s it looking?
